Moreover, if these ingredients are not to be used immediately, their oxidation level should be checked regularly and eventually more antioxidant might be added. Toxicity of oxidized fish oil can be neutralized by the addition of adequate levels of vitamins E and C. Levels of 100 to 150 ppm are commonly used in commercial fish and shrimp feeds. However, for salmon diets containing high levels of unsaturated fat (upto 35 per cent), levels of 350 ppm of vitamin E or more is used.
